About Us

Gavin & Tara Hills share a passion to see people walking in the fullness of the freedom Christ purchased for them on the Cross. Their lives have been so fundamentally and gloriously transformed by the Love of God that it cannot help but overflow. It wasn’t always this way; in fact, before the truth of Who Jesus Is rose like the dawn in their lives, they were headed down the dark path of drug addiction and self-idolatry. The whole story is a story worth telling, but how do you sum up the story of your life in a small paragraph? It just doesn’t do it justice. How about this then: if you want to hear the fuller story then click here. Otherwise, if you have questions that crop up then email us and we’ll gladly share more with you!
For now though, here’s a little details on who we are and wassup in our lives:

Gavin the Explorer.JPGGavin Mark Hills (March 13, 1979) is a remarkable man who finds deep pleasure in the simple things of life: discovering how things work, watching a really good movie, cheering on the Sens (Ottawa Senators hockey team), homemade apple crisp with custard on top, and ‘Nice ‘n’ Easy Crossword puzzles. He is an amazing man, full of surprises, adventure, wisdom, laughter and kindness.

Gavin spent his childhood in the small town of Gananoque, then his teen years in the ‘burbs Ottawa (both in Ontario, Canada) along with his parents and 2 brothers. He met his future wife in their last year of highschool and married her after 5 years of crazy life changing experiences (click here for the unrestricted story!) Eleven weeks after they were wed they embarked on a 4 year Cross Cultural BA degree in Minneapolis, MN, USA at the Christian missionary training school, Bethany College of Missions. Hungry for more of God and a thirst for what only He can impart has propelled Gavin to go deeper in His faith, explore the Bible, and step out in unshamed boldness to live out the truth of the Gospel. His life has been so radically transformed that it is his desire to share this hope and healing with others so they too will know the Truth that sets them free! A wonderful outlet for this core desire has been given through the third year of his cross cultural studies; the practical application year spent overseas living and serving alongside missionaries in NW Spain. Now he is fully graduated, serving God happily and humbly in Bethany International and then walking by faith with God, his wife and their firstborn daughter into the next chapter of life (whatever that may be!)

You Are Gonzo the Great
“Is something burning in here? Oh, it’s just me.”
You’re a total nutball who will do anything for attention.
The first to take a dare, you’ll pull almost any stunt.
You’re one weird looking creature, but your chickens don’t mind!

Photos013.JPGTara Lee Hills (née Follis, September 26, 1978) is a marvelous woman who delights in all things both great and small. Sweeping sunsets, apple blossoms in the spring; scrambled eggs, strawberries, crafting and sharing from her heart of hearts in written and spoken word. She is a woman through and through and is rejoicing at all God is doing to release her from the shame and lies that have choked her for so many years.

Tara was born in Sault Saint Marie (Ontario, Canada) but really grew up in the suburbs of Ottawa with her parents and 3 siblings (2 older brothers, one younger sister). She wasn’t looking for her husband when she met Gavin in that infamous grade 13 art class; but find him she did! They quickly became utterly co-dependent and went out West to find freedom and prosperity; to their great surprise they ended up being found by their Lover and Maker! (click here for the fuller story). From that turning point everything changed. A life that was once pursuing self-interest and hedonistic (whatever feels ‘good’ do it) pleasure became completely transformed. Now, Tara desires to live a life of true love and to, by the grace of God, help others encounter the real Jesus. The choice to pursue missionary training at Bethany College of Missions was one step in receiving further maturity in her faith. Since then God has done far more in her than she ever dreamed possible! She is more excited for the future than ever before and looks forward to sharing it with her beloved husband and delightful daughter.

You Are Miss Piggy
A total princess and diva, you’re totally in charge - even if people don’t know it.
You want to be loved, adored, and worshiped. And you won’t settle for anything less.
You’re going to be a total star, and you won’t let any of the “little people” get in your way.
Just remember, piggy, never eat more than you can lift!

DSC036001.JPGEden Iris Hills (January 21, 2005) is the sparkling jewel of both the Hills and Follis families. The first of the first, she will always be the oldest sibling, neice, cousin, grandchild and great-grandchild. But for now, in her sweet infancy, she takes deep pleasure in warm cuddles, learning to walk, opening and closing cupboards, and coloring with her rubber carrot.

Eden was born on the coldest day of 2005 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. -45ºC!!! She wasn’t aware though since she was bundled up in a bunting bag that was entirely to big for her little 7 pound frame. Her parents had to stuff flannel cloths into the arms and legs so she wouldn’t get lost in it! Due to her parents sojourning lifestyle, Eden has travelled to more countries in her first year than most people do in a lifetime. At this point she has spent more time in Spain than anywhere else. People ask if she speaks Spanish, but her parents aren’t sure if she even speaks much English. But whatever language she does speak, she speaks it with joy and seriousness (with all the facial expressions and tones of voice to match). As for her future, that is still yet unfolding! For now, she has been entrusted by God into the hands of her parents. As long as the milk keeps coming and love is the center of her family, everything is going to be ok:)

You Are Animal
A complete lunatic, you’re operating on 100% animal instincts.
You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you’re downright scary.
But you sure can beat a good drum.
“Kill! Kill!”
