She’s Walking!!!

June 4th, 2006by Tara

DSC05235.JPGJust a quick little post on this Friday night to share the happy news that today was the day that Eden did it, with no prompting from us, she suddenly stepped out in faith (literally!) and WALKED!!

After a great week at a lakeside retreat place for the intern class, today, out of nowhere, while we weren’t really paying attention, she just up and walked right down the hall (a good 20 feet). Previously she was only walking 2-5 feet with much prompting and hugs afterwards. Something must’ve helped her in these past 2 weeks (she was ready weeks ago, just had some DSC05239.JPGconfidence issues to work out in time). So we’re telling everybody who will listen how proud we are of her courage and wonderful balance. She still pauses at doorways to play peek a boo with anyone who’ll play with her, blessing them with her gorgeous grin and happy giggles. She certainly is charming everyone on campus here (the little boy across the hall, Ezekiel (5) is quite smitten with her and loves to let her play with his daddies shoes in the hallway).

We’re doing well all things considered. This 2 week of re-entry classes and the retreat have been really healthy for us. Classes start for pretty much everyone else on monday, but not for us. We’re both a bit ahead of things in terms of credits, so we can skip this elective class for the next 3 weeks! Sweet! That gives us open mornings where I (Tara) will do my PT (the work placement I do in the Admissions department, which I LOVE!) while Gavin cares for Eden. We’ll switch off in the afternoons so Gavin can do his PT in lawncrew (he loves that ride-on mower) while Eden and I hang out. We love our new apartment, are learning to live without a/c, are grateful for all the provision and support in our lives (which is SO much more than mere money), and are simply enjoying the moment we are in.

So on that note, we are going to enjoy an early night since our little darling is up on the button by 7 am. And in those cool hours of the morning it’s actually good time to catch up on things, like the emails piling up in our inbox!

Lots of love,
Gavin, Tara & Eden
